Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is 3D printing?
    • 3D printing is also known as desktop fabrication or additive manufacturing. It is a prototyping process whereby a real object is created from a 3D design. The digital 3D-model is saved in STL format and then sent to a 3D printer. The 3D printer then prints the design layer by layer and forms a real object. 2. What can you make with a 3D printer?
    • In 3D printing area, people say “If You Can Draw It, You Can Make It”. In the video below shows many items can be made with a 3D printer What can you make with a 3D printer.
  3. How long does it take?
    • The amount of time taken to create a 3D print depends on a number of factors, the two most important are the print size and layer thickness. An average print the size of a tea cup will take between 4 and 24hours  to print depending on the layer thickness. Thicker layers mean a less accurate print but a shorter print time and lower cost, thinner layers mean a longer print time and more cost.
  4. I have no 3D modelling experience and I dont want to pay for a model to be created can I still use UA 3D Printing?
